Sankt Georgenberg

The unique location of Sankt Georgenberg belongs to those historical vineyards in Germany which fortunately up till now have been preserved for viticulture.

A handwritten document dates back to St. Martin’s Day in the year 1511 certifying the cultivation of the Riesling. It is the oldest documentation of a Riesling vineyard.

The Pfannebecker family is ready to meet the wine-growing tradition at this very location revitalizing  it and carrying it on in a modern design. It is right here where the long-lasting top quality vines of the estate flourish: Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir.

It is a gently rising southern slope which is also cooled down on hot days by the wind preserving the natural aroma and freshness of the grapes. The vines are rooted in pure loess and clay soils with a deep structure possessing water preserving characteristics. The vegetation period is long, the grapes mature more slowly gaining complexity at the same time.

This is reflected in the wines: They are made of a firm and cool kernel possessing potential and longevity. Over the course of time, they unfold their elegant power, their depth and their taste intensity.
